Who is responsible for your data

The controller is Quantify Club, an association under Swiss law, c/o Università della Svizzera italiana, Via Giuseppe Buffi 13, 6900 Lugano, Switzerland. You can reach us about privacy through the contact form (topic "General") or at [privacy contact email to be confirmed].

What personal data we collect

• Website visits: technical data such as IP address, browser type, requested page and time of access, processed by our hosting provider to deliver and secure the website. We do not use analytics or advertising tools.
• Contact and partnership enquiries: your name, email address, organisation (for partnership enquiries), topic and message.
• Membership applications: your name, email address, affiliation, university, and optionally your programme, study level and expected graduation year; desk preferences and skills; your answers about motivation and learning goals; and optionally your LinkedIn and GitHub URLs.
• Members: the data needed to keep the member register and organise the Club's activities.

We do not ask for sensitive personal data, and we ask you not to include it in free-text fields.

Why we use it

As set out in the Articles of Association, applicant and member data is processed for membership management, organising activities, communication with members, and meeting the Association's obligations toward USI. Enquiry data is used only to reply to you and, for partnership enquiries, to discuss the proposed collaboration. Technical data is used to deliver the website and protect it against abuse.

Legal basis

We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Depending on the purpose, we rely on your consent (given in our forms), on steps taken at your request before membership, or on our legitimate interest in running and securing the website.

Who receives it

• The Executive Committee and the Club members it designates, for example to hold an admission interview.
• Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts this website and, if enabled, provides spam protection (Turnstile) for our forms.
• The service that delivers form submissions to the Executive Committee: [provider to be confirmed].
• Università della Svizzera italiana, where required by the Association's obligations toward USI.

Some providers may process data outside Switzerland and the European Economic Area. [Countries and safeguards to be confirmed]

How long we keep it

• Member data is kept for the duration of membership and deleted no later than 12 months after membership ends, unless specific records must be kept longer by law.

• Technical logs are kept by our hosting provider according to its own retention policy.

Your rights

You can ask for access to your personal data, its correction or deletion, and a copy of data you provided to us. You can object to processing or withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing that has already taken place. If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you can contact the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) or, if you live in the EU, your local data protection authority.

Cookies

This website does not use analytics, advertising or tracking cookies, and it does not store information in your browser for those purposes. Our hosting provider may set strictly necessary security cookies to protect the site against abuse.

We will update this page when our practices change. The version date at the top shows when it was last revised.
